colleges were a result of the new deal. sacramento. i gave a talk at santa rosa and the city college in san francisco was largely a product of the pwa and has wonderful art work all over it by the art in action project at the treasure island fair. and then there's these special schools for crippled children. this is in the mission district and it's a beautiful school with all the features we take for granted because of the americans with disabilities act. it has wonderful tiles. this was not accidental. this is the sunshine school. we made the school as beautiful as possible to take the children's minds off their problems. it was also crippled children. this might sound familiar to you if you know the history of president roosevelt. he was paralyzed by polio on the threshold of a promising career. he came back and few americans knew how disabled he was. he learned compassion. he learned he could help other people of different races that he never met before. this is what we used his inheritance for. this lead to the polio vaccine. this is one person who reveres him. suzie. she was born with

morning for your side, those readings in the upper 40s to the 50s. 48 in santa rosa, 52 in san francisco, fremont, 60 degrees. tracking the weather system out here in the pacific. the headline, cool to mild weekend. no major heat in the forecast. at least clouds in the morning, partly cloudy in the afternoon. so the temperatures, 60s, warmest locations, reaching the lower 70s. you can see i painted in rain clouds. you don't have to worry about rain chance thes weekend but next week, tuesday and wednesday we are still introducing at least just a chance of a few scattered light showers, not a done deal yet but something to watch out for next week. here is the forecast model. clouds on the increase. right around the bay. clouds hugging the coast. but, still, scattered low cloud deck. and then in the afternoon hours, skies becoming partly cloudy. look at the green contour here. 60s, the yellow in the 70s. these numbers really not a big change. warmest locations approaching middle 70s towards antioch, san jose, 72, fremont, 70, san francisco in the low 60s. we will go with 64. here is a look

that were mentioned by our principals starting with the first row there. our principal at rosa parks, paul jacob son and you were recognized as a school closing the gap for english language learners. we know that the data has improved 19-point 2%. what is going on there? the principal in the description gave three categories. i focused. i fixed. i featured. they talked about structure and assessment. they made a conscious effort at reducing suspensions and having restorative practices and pay attention to english development as well and collaboration was an important part on reflecting how they're doing on assessments and bringing student work to those discussions so had quite a few elementary schools and some of the others here and you see quite a variety of strategies and new traditions, incorporated family math nights. you see home visits was incorporated by staff and maximizing the instructional time for students. there was a school wide focus on literacy time and math practices for example. we cataloged the same strategies for the principals of the secondary schools as well.

to santa rosa. san jose, 53. our coast is cool at 50 degrees. a couple of things going on. this morning we are starting out cooler but by the time we hit or afternoon highs, 3:00, 4:00, we will be the same as we were yesterday. very little change over the next couple of days. there is a good reason for that. there is a system offshore that is diffuse that go marine layer, allowing for a sun cloud mix throughout the rest of the weekend. it will head our way bringing a slight chance of showers. an upper-level low, it remains blocked, it can't move close to the coast but it will continue total flow total south and west of us to bring us high and mid-level clouds. here is track of it throughout the rest of the weekend. staying offshore. that is provides a partly cloudy sky. then as we head towards the beginning of the workweek, monday and tuesday it sinks south. higher elt vacation sprinkles perhaps. east bay hills, santa cruz mountains and dusting of snow in the sierra nevada. cold enough and been in the lower 30s this morning. mid 60s in the northern sierra. 79 in yosemite with low 80s in fr

are in the low 60's all over the bay area with the exception of santa rosa which comes in at cool 57 degrees right now. these are our forecast features. it will become mostly cloudy overnight but then the cloud will thin out tomorrow mix of sun clouds daytime hours over the weekend and slight chance of showers very, very slight on monday and tuesday. on we good to tonight low. we see again cal clouds movingn. rather far inland as aatter of fact. wi spread. low temperature mainly in the mid 50's although at cooler in the north bay valley low drop into the upper fritz inome spots like santa rosa expected to have a low of 49. now satellite radar composite image shows us upper level low well offshore. looking at the system a couple days now. not ready to make a move yet. our forecast animation at 11:00 o'clock tonight. into the weekend we good. mix of cloud sun and mild for the weekend but then on monday the low makes a run in our direction and monday tuesday there is a chance of some isolated light wide spread showers by the low pressure system but for tomorrow no showers in sight. f

in the north bay. 47 degrees in santa rosa. 46 in novato and 56 starting out nice and comfortable in the city by the bay. all the action is happening for the bay's big weekend. taking you down south and 54 degrees this morning in sunnyvale. here's where it gets interesting. we have an area of low pressure. it's just offshore. look at the showers. very close in the bay area, but it doesn't lock like they are going to push in. we stopped the clock for ow the futurecast. look at this. almost completely clear conditions over san francisco. palo alto. m marine layer out in the pacific. i am concerned about the fog becoming a problem for the blue angels. we stop the clock for you at 5:00 a.m. also adding the chance for showers late or tomorrow. so your best bet is going to be today if you are going to hit the action. it works out like this. 69 degrees in san francisco and 70 in san jose. around 75 degrees out in livermore. you will be comfortable in santa cruz at 67. i think all the action will be pointed right at san francisco. one of the reasons why, our own giants and nbc bay area is the proud h
